October 5

Todays addition comes from the markets of Pennsylvania, where I scooped up a whole bag of these beautiful, ornate blocks!

They first caught my attention because of their resemblance to old type block letters, and after talking to the dealer I learned that these too are old print blocks of the metal variety.  These were once used to print catalogs advertising early ice boxes, and showing the variety of ornamental hinges and mechanisms available. How interesting! If only our "ice boxes" were still this beautifully decorated....
The above print block will be included in the ever-growing treasure pot. I think these beauties are perfect to display or to be used in a vintage craft project!

Such a wonderful piece of American history.

Take a peek at the treasure chest so far- it's lookin' good!

I think this is my favourite addition so far!! I've been looking for a book-end for ages, but not a generic book-end...this would do the job perfectly!!

This is quite unusual. I don't know how you can part with it. The treasure pot is getting more interesting as the month goes on! I love the print block!
