Spring Clearence

As i said a few posts back- Ive decided to move up and away from lucite jewelry. I wasnt sure if the feeling would pass after I got over the disappointment from the Philly show, but it hasnt, and in fact- I am still really psyched about the freedom.

That being said, Ive also decided to put all of my lucite jewelry on sale. 40% off!! In my shop now! Once these pieces are gone, I wont be producing more, so dont delay!
ps- I have a ton of new stuff (all one of a kind now!) to upload over the next few days, so keep checking back. All of the above pieces will make it on there eventually!

Neighbors Night Out 3

If you live in Baltimore, you've probably heard Zach Sowers story, or heard about the amazing work his wife Anna continues to do in this city. If you are unfamiliar with the story, here is the link to Zach's website. Zach was brutally beaten and robbed for no good reason just outside his home in downtown Baltimore two years ago. The attack left him in a coma for almost a year, and Zach finally lost his battle on March 25th of last year.

Since the attack, his wife Anna has been working hard to open peoples eyes to what is really going on in the city, and make people accountable for their actions. One of her efforts is the Zach Sowers brain trauma research fund at Johns Hopkins. To raise money for this fund, Pazo is hosting Neighbors Night Out 3, on March 1st. There will be great food, entertainment, and a silent action, will all proceeds going too research fund.

Although I wont be able to attend this year, I have made a contribution to the silent auction, and urge everyone to either attend the event (sounds like fun!), or make a contribution.

I heart Edward

I started, and I cant stop.
This series is SOOO good. Im on the third book now, and i am so sad there is only one more to go. I never in a million years thought i would like some teeny bopper book series about vampires. WRONG! Rent it, buy it, borrow it NOW!
These books are also really helping keep my mind off of jewelry for the time being- bonus!

PS, now i really want to move to the west coast, asap!

Philly Recap

Im finally settling down back home, and I am so happy to be here! I have really mixed feeling about the market right now, and i hesitate to say it was a complete bust only because I met a lot of really great artists and attendees. (not buyers though, im not sure many were really there!)

I will say that financially, the market was disastrous for me. I didnt even cover half of my expenses, which just stressed me out beyond belief. I was hopeful the the economy wouldn't have such a big effect on the show, but i was dead wrong. The aisles remained pretty empty during the entire 5 days of the show, and when talkign to other exhibitors, I realized i was not the only one have a disappointing show.
i wish i could say this show didnt wear me down as much as it did, and that i could just chalk it up to a bad economy, but thats easier said than done. Especially so fresh off of a bad show. As of right now, im going to take a break from doing shows, and as soon as i fill the few orders i did receive, im also taking a break from lucite jewelry. I feel as though ive boxed myself in to this technique, and i REALLY need a break. I dont feel like an artist anymore, just a production worker. Im excited to see what develops out of this new freedom. I will still be working and creating, it will just be new and exciting work- I cant go wrong with that. Who knows when the economy will pick up again and i will be ready to do more shows, but for now im going to use this economic lull to my advantage!
I also have to say a HUGE THANK YOU too my mom, Kathy. She stayed with me through the entire show, she made me laugh, calmed me down, entertained me, and helped me work through my 5 min crying spurt in a very productive way. I couldnt have done it without you Mom, I love you!

Philly Day 2

Time is passing very slowly here at the Buyers Market. Sales total- 1. Id like to think its because everyone is walking the whole show before they make any commitments. Times are tough- for both buyers and artists- and smart choices need to be made. PLEASE CHOOSE ME!!

Its so hard to have excitement and enthusiasm for so long. But I will manage.

Above is a shot of my booth all set up. I have gotten great responses to it. Everyone love the soft flooring, and the "calm, serine-ness". I just wish i had a place to sit. Next years booth lay out will be very different, thats for sure.

Day 1

Im here in my cozy hotel room bed in Philly for the Buyers Market, which starts tomorrow at 4.
Setting up was SO exhausting! And made worse by the fact that Ive been running around like crazy for the last few weeks. I finally finished creating work on monday night, and still brought a pile of things to do here with me tonight. No rest for the weary!

Here are a few shots of the booth in progress...You'll see the finished product tomorrow.

Off to work...

Why did i have to brag about being so productive!
I take it back!

Valentines

If i were going to be in town this Valentines day... or had the time to whip these babys up, they would def be the cards i'd be sending this year. I LOVE em! You can get more info here, on the Purl Bee site.

Checks!

  • order business cards
