Where did the motivation go?

About 2 months ago we joined a new, fancy, awesome gym. And for about two weeks I was totally into it! I loved the classes, the atmosphere, working out, everything! I got new workout clothes, all the stuff i needed to shower before work, along with new workout tunes for my i-pod. ( i told you i jump headfirst into everything!) I had big goals, and I was on my way to reaching them. I felt totally good, and very proud of myself!

Then it all kinda died down. And now i haven't been to the gym in weeks. NOT ONCE! Shame on me! (Did i mention how expensive our gym is....?) My goals haven't changed, and i still have all the clothes and tunes, the only thing i lost was the motivation. I need it back asap!

So Ive decided to take my little mission/journey/adventure/challenge to blog land. I will be posting every Friday about the week Ive had, my mood, motivations, etc. I'm hoping the fact that I'm broadcasting my progress to the world will make me a little more accountable, and keep the motivation up this time. I hope you guys don't mind this weekly peek into my personal life! I really want to reach my goal once and for all!!

The goal is simply this; to be healthier, happier, more confident and 30 pounds lighter!

Because i think everyone needs to be rewarded for hard work, I am going to give myself 3 mile stone rewards. Each after 10 pounds of weight loss. I haven't decided on the first two, but the 3rd Ive wanted for a very long time! My sweet reward is going to be a new pair of expensive, thin jeans. Think Joe's or true religion..... you know. I cant think of a better time to get my first pair! Suggestions for the other two?

Thanks for listening to me ramble! I'm looking forward to my new weekly post, and hopefully you like them too!

Happy Holidays

Casey and I ventured down to 34th street in Hampden last night to get into the holiday spirit! With Starbucks in hand, we walked down the (rather short) street and checked out all the lights. What a great Baltimore tradition!

OBSESSED

Confession: I honestly believe that I have an obsessive personality. I find a new hobby, interest, whatever, and I am ALL about it! OBSESSED. Sometimes these obsessions pass in a short amount of time, and occasionally they reappear time and time again. This trait most commonly appears in me when it comes to a crafty hobby. Some examples; knitting, scrap booking, sewing, jewelry, rubber stamps, felting... you get the point. Its not necessarily a bad thing... just expensive.
My latest obsession has been the knitting and sewing thing. I cant seem to stop. Im making tons of Christmas gifts this year, and Im having a blast doing it! I rack my brains everyday trying to come up with new ideas of things to make (do you have any ideas??). The sewing machine mom lent me is what really pushed me over the obsessive edge. Thanks mom!
So in my frantic online searching for all things fiber and yarn related, i came across Amy Butlers site. Its beautiful, you must check it out! Amy is creating quite a company for herself, and coming out with the most beautiful products including; fibers, stationary, and patterns. If your looking for a fun way to kill a little time, browse all of her fabric patterns, its SO much fun!

Im off to continue browsing the web and thinking of new things to make. I should probably begin to think about jewelry again at some point too...

I spent a lot of time posting new pieces in my shop today. Be sure to stop by and take a look. And... dont forget that my HOLIDAY SALE is still going on! 20% of everything!

Take a look at this cute little clutch i made as a gift this weekend! Ive been knitting my little fingers away! TOO much fun! And when my mom came for thanksgiving, she brought me her sewing machine. WAY TOO much fun!! I have been making lots of goodies for holiday gifts, and im racking my brain for new ideas!!

We went and got our Christmas tree this weekend, and spent the night decorating it!! It was fabulous! It takes me hours to put all the ornaments on, only because i have to stop and think about the story behind most of the ornaments i have in my collection. Its such a great time of year.

The Latest

Here are a few shots of my latest work. Available soon, i'll let you know!

Also....stay tuned for a big announcement on Friday Morning!

Don't you hate when people do that...sorry!!! But its worth the wait!!

Holiday Cards

Im sure most of you who cruise around blog land regularly have heard about the big holiday ornament swap that is put on every year. I participated last year, and it was held again this year too! I found that while excited about the swap, it was simply an un-needed stress too close to the holidays for me to participate again. (I probably should have relaxed a little about the ornaments i was trying to make , and kept it a little more basic too!)

But I did just discover that Brooklyn Bride is hosting a holiday card swap this year. All you have to do is make a card (or 5)! Here are all the deets. Im seriously considering doing this...am i crazy!?!?! Is a card less stressful than an ornament?

I can see a fun girls night of card making and wine. What a good excuse to get together and relax before the holidays kick into high gear!

Baltimore Magazine!

I was thrilled to come home on Saturday and find Baltimore Magazine in my mailbox. I always look forward to getting a new issue in the mail, but i was impatiently awaiting this issue because I am included in the local crafters section (under accessories). Not only is there a little mention about my work, there is also a large image of one of my latest brooches on the bottom of the page! Hooray!!!!
Take a look for yourself!! Thanks Baltimore Magazine!

Aside from including some of the hip-est local artists around, the entire magazine is dedicated to shopping local this holiday season, and covers/shows a lot of handmade gift ideas. Great issue!

Sunday Night

Such a quick weekend! I cant believe its Sunday night already!
Here is my weekend in pictures...

Im embarrassed to admit that it's taken me so long to discover Red Tree in Hampden. SOOOOO awesome! If your like me and haven't made your way into the store yet, do it now! Ive also been totally converted to a knitter. I do it at work, at home, before bed.... I love it! LovelYarns is down the street from Red Tree, and a must see if your into knitting!

I also managed to get tons of work done this weekend too! Here are some new images that will be used in my work in 2009. Some may even appear in some pieces for Holiday Heap next weekend. All are hand drawn by yours truly!

Beautiful Day

After a bit of a funk, Im happy to say im having a wonderful day!

The leaves are falling all around signaling that fall is really here!
Ive been having a great time knitting away on someone specials Christmas gift. Picture this scarf with a BIG lucite button...
I have finally gotten my motivation to work in the studio back! Ive been thinking about the buyers market in Feb, as well as the Holiday Heap show next weekend! My holiday line will be complete this weekend... just think holly, ice skates, pine trees and reindeer.

And last but not least. My pride and hope for the future of the county was restored last night as we watched Barak Obamas acceptance speech. AMAZING!

Ho Ho Ho

Now that Halloween has passed, my mind is starting to wrap itself around thanksgiving and Christmas's. Mainly these aspects; preparing thansgiving dinner since we are hosting my family, and wondering what Christmas gifts i can make this year to save a little money! (aren't we all thinking that this year....) (ps, VOTE TOMORROW : ) )
So today i came across this blog: 101 Handmade Gift Ideas. I haven't read through them all...but so far i have found several options, and im looking forward to making some of them!

If you happen to be in the same financial boat as me this year, take this opportunity to enjoy the crafts you can make, and the fun you can have making them! And def check out this website!

I found this video online today, and was left speechless. It is TERRIFYING that people like this are still out there, and happen to be living in such an important state. So so sad.
