New Work!

Since my "everything i do doesn't have to include lucite" revelation- I have been dying to work on this group of pendants. The idea comes from historic ornamentation that i have adapted, and scaled down to a wearable size.

These pieces arnt finished yet; they still need to be polished, tumbled and oxidized. When they are completed one side will be dark and the other size will be high polished silver, so they are reversible. Bonus! I have MANY more ideas along this line, and im excited to keep pumping them out!

100th Post

Thank you everyone for your warm birthday wishes! I have had a wonderful week- and weekend celebrating with friends and family!

Friday I visited the American Visionary Art Museum to view the PostSecret exhibit i learned was on display. There were hundreds of postcards mounted on the walls (photocopies actually...bummer) in all the stairwells featuring a secret that had to deal with faith or god. I was hoping for a wider range of subjects, but was still glad to got to see some of the postcards in person.

I have also been busy creating new letters to post in my shop tonight, as well as getting another handful of pieces ready to finish. Im really looking forward to some updates, and I hope you are too ;)
Exciting news- In a few days you will be able to find my work at Violette, in Seattle Washington. From their blog, it looks like Violette is a supercute boutique with lots of great clothes and accessories. If you live nearby, be sure to stop in!

One More Thing...

I almost forgot...
Remember these pieces- my calligraphy initial pendants...

I have decided to put them into production! Next week the letters L, S, and C will be available for immediate shipping. All other letters are available as well, but will require 2 weeks for delivery!

Any other letter suggestions??

Happy Monday!

Another week has started, and surprisingly- Im looking forward to this one! I have so many new ideas swirling in my head, and i cant wait to work on them! Im bound and determined to get my catalog done this week, and apply to another handful of spring and summer shows. Also, Casey and I will both be celebrating our 25th birthdays this week, and im really looking to celebrating with family and friends over the weekend!!
I got 4 new silver frames made for my lucite pieces this weekend, but haven't had the time to rivet them together yet. Maybe tonight....!! But i did find time to make the earrings pictured above to match the floral framed pendant I made earlier this week. These aren't EXACTLY how i want them yet, but they will be available soon in my shop. Im contemplating some faceted stones dangling from the bottom, but haven't worked out the details on that yet.
Can you tell im thinking very seriously about planing a vacation.... Im SO ready for summer!!!
I'll try to post as often as possible, but I hope you all have a Happy Monday, and Happy St. Patricks Day too!

Something to think about...

If you haven't read Annie's latest blog post about her experiences at SNAG, here is the link. It made me sad, and made me question where i belong in the field.

Then jump over to Megan's blog for a very inspiring response to Annie's post. I think she's right! Does it have to be one or the other??

Keeping up!

I seem to be having trouble keeping up with things these days. I feel like there are never enough hours in the day! C'est la vie...

Here is an image showing my semi-excuse for not being as productive as I'd like. Yep, you guessed it...were moving! We have barely started packing for the move in one month, and we have A LOT of stuff... yikes!

But... Im happy to say that i did squeeze some work time out of the weekend, and this is what i came up with! I LOVE the new idea, and cant wait to keep working with it, and fix some kinks. But you can count on a lot more work coming out of my studio in this style!

The bottom picture is a piece i made in 2007, and shows you where my idea started. Im still not sure rivets are the way to go in the new pieces, but i think they add some visual interest...like i said, kinks need to be worked out. I also plan on making some pieces without the lucite for a little variety. (I had to remind myself that "not EVERYTHING i make anymore has to have lucite")

Also look for more work including the new floral pattern shown above.
