Jewelry Displays

When we first moved into this house and I was faced with a LARGE, empty wall on "my side" of the bedroom, and I knew right away how I wanted to fill it up...

I'd seen people turn old type block trays into jewelry holders before, and had always loved the look and idea. Since I come across these old trays frequently when shopping, I figured it was a project I could tackle myself, and knew it would be the ideal solution for both organizing jewelry and filling up that large wall.
By using dark colored wire that I ordered off etsy, I made little rings from which I can hang all of my dangle earrings.
I decided to just lay all of my rings and stud earrings within the slots of the other tray.  It's been so nice to look at all of the pieces I've designed and made over the years every time I walk by- like these earrings and rings.
In order to have a place for all my necklaces I attached some hooks to the bottom of the tray. Isn't this collection awesome- most of the necklaces are from French Sentiments.

Of couse, once the trays were hung on the wall I had to decorate the top of them too. No ledge/shelf space goes untouched in this house!

Because of the super shallow depth of the make-shift shelf I've found myself placing many of the collages I've made on thin canvas panel up top. By varying the sizes and orientations of the collages I was able to some nice layering.

That is a fun display! It is also helpful to see everything when deciding what to wear, I'll bet!
