Tres Bon

I have a friend who is planning a trip to Paris. She's been asking me all sorts of questions about my trip, and wanting all my best advice. I've realized how much i love talking to her- or anyone, for that matter- about my trip, or Paris in general. I had such a great time, and I like to think back on on all the details.
Then I realized that I never shared much about my trip with you guys. and i have SO MUCH to share and say about it.  So little by little Im going to start throwing in some Paris posts. It will help me remember the trip, and hopefully you all like hearing about Paris as much as I do. So here it goes...
The food...oh the food. Confections and bread to be precise. TO DIE FOR.
I personally dont feel that when your on vacation you should be on a diet, or even watch what you eat. Enjoy, indulge, experience. Thats my theory! Although im not an experimental eatter (textures get to me),  i never had any problems with the treats... and here's the proof :)

Authentic chocolate eclair

chocolate macaroon

nutella banana crepe

What i wouldn't give for one of these crepes right now!  Made by this guy, of course!

The food wasnt what made the trip, but it certainly made it better. It was tres bon.

Stormy weather and artwork

We are in the midst of a nasty storm here in baltimore. The kind of storm where ive lit all the candles in the living room because im just sure the power will go out. So far so good, but the sky is still filled with lightening. Im not one to get nervous, freak out, or get scared when power goes out. In fact- its kinda a nice excuse to get in bed early and read by candlelight. or something like that. However, im REALLY hoping to keep power tonight so i can keep working in the studio. Its been a fabulous, productive day, and im not ready for it to be over yet.

Here are some photos of something i made earlier this week. I really love the piece, as well as all the components that went into it.  The clock face itself was found at a local flea market and really inspired me, so I knew it had to be mine. :) Its made from enameled glass, and the numerals have a wonder raised, smooth texture.

(im sorry these pics are sideways- I cant get the orientation correct through blogger
(apparently its a problem many people have) but I wanted to share the details with you anyway).
I made the  folded pinwheel behind the flower from ledger paper from 1890.
The beaded flower is one I got in paris at the Puces St. Ouen flea market. One of my most favorite treasures!
Also from the flea markets is the postcard that has been copied and reduced in size for this piece.

Im really hoping to get my hands on some more clock faces now!
Enjoy the rest of your sunday night.

Hi

sick

What do you think of the new blog photo?  It was sooooo much fun to make. I hope to be changing them occasionally to fit with my ever changing interests :)

Unfortunately i've gotten sick. I dont know how it happened or when, but i def have a cold. A miserable, annoying, tiring cold. I have made a cozy nest in my bed- complete with movies, computer, books and my iphone and tissues.

All i could use now is my moms veg soup or chicken divan... wink wink!

Memorandum

Ive recently aquired a set of diaries/memorandums all from H.B. Anderson. These diaries range in years from 1910- 1950. I find these little books so SO sweet because along with recording personal finances H.B. also recorded the weather of each day.  Ive only looked thouroughly threw two books but ive found entries recording rainbows, snow, eclipses and tree trimming)

While i was listing some of the books on etsy tonight I found this entry from Tuesday January 10th, 1910. It shocked me- and made me love this book THAT much more.
The great flood of Paris. WOW!

Did I mention that some of the treasures I brought back from Paris are also now listed in my etsy shop?

Make Up

I heart make up! In a big way. Always have, always will!
Just discovered Lancome's concealer, which Im actually using under my eye to disguise dark circles. I highly recommend it :)
